I first became interested in Chinese medicine through practising Tai Chi. I wanted to understand how the system worked, how something so seemingly simple as the principles of yin and yang and the elements could describe something as complex as the human body.
It takes time and study to understand the Chinese system, but the rewards are worth the effort. It is empowering to learn how your body works and how everything you do has an impact. Applied intelligently, it points towards peace and balance.
I have a degree in acupuncture and am a member of the British Acupuncture Council. I enjoy teaching acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture as a supervisor in the teaching clinic.
My degree entailed studying both Chinese and Western medicine. I still study medicine to further my understanding, and am currently studying Chinese herbal medicine.
I have practiced tai chi for over 20 years and am a Wu family Tai Ji disciple. I also help to run a Buddhist meditation group.
